Southern Multi Product Ltd. (SMP) established its foundation in 1988, targeting government clientele engaged in gas exploration, production, transmission, and distribution. To strengthen its technical capabilities and technological expertise, the company forged a strategic alliance with global leader RMG Group (Germany), later acquired by Honeywell Inc., USA. Until 2000, SMP focused on delivering high-precision gas flow control and measurement equipment, including complete systems, under international tenders issued by various subsidiaries of Petrobangla (Bangladesh Oil, Gas, and Mineral Corporation). This critical phase significantly enhanced the company’s technical acumen and managerial proficiency, positioning it as a trusted turnkey solutions provider.
From 2002 onward, SMP expanded its portfolio to include comprehensive engineering services for system integration. These services encompass all facets of engineering design, detailed drawings, advanced calculations, fabrication, assembly, installation, rigorous testing, and seamless commissioning. These services have been extensively provided to government entities and large industrial conglomerates for the turnkey delivery of advanced gas flow control and measurement systems.
SMP’s proven track record includes the execution of numerous EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts. These projects range from fuel gas supply systems for gas-fired power plants with capacities spanning 10 MW to 400 MW, to compressed natural gas fueling stations with a capacity of 500 m³/hr at 3,600 PSIG, and railway signaling systems in collaboration with NMA Railway Signaling BV, The Netherlands (now Pirelli). Additionally, SMP has successfully delivered projects involving the supply, installation, field calibration, and commissioning of flow computers designed to store aggregate gas flow, pressure, and temperature data while enabling real-time data transmission to remote locations via GSM communication systems.
Many of these projects involved intricate and multidisciplinary challenges across mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering disciplines. SMP has consistently delivered excellence, completing each project within strict timelines and quality benchmarks. Notably, the company takes pride in its successful completion of multimillion-dollar turnkey projects, including those for the state-owned Chinese company GPEC (Guangdong Power Engineering Company Limited), executed in collaboration with Tormene Americana S.A. (Argentina) and Autometers Energitec Limited (India).
Looking ahead, SMP envisions playing a transformative role in industrial automation, with a focus on driving innovation and efficiency in key sectors such as textiles, refineries, pharmaceuticals, ceramics, plastics, and cement. The company remains steadfast in leveraging its expertise, technological innovation, and global partnerships to redefine industrial processes and contribute to the nation’s industrial advancement.
